All I do is highlight, bring to attention, make you see. I do not wish
for you to make any actions towards or in reference to my work, for
me, it's about a simple idea, a tiny thought, just the smallest of
notions planted in your conscience is more than enough. I do not make
you donate or push the button, I do not force you to make a decision,
although, what if I did? With my work it is your choice to see it how
you wish, a key part of my work is to evident this fact, you have a
choice. Is that a good thing though? Morally can you even choose? Is
it right even to consider your options? With life on the line, where
does right and wrong come into it? Is the preservation of life the
accepted 'right'? To even think about the choice a wrong? Or is that
just what we are led to believe? Maybe if I gave you a even harder
choice to make you'd see/feel it more in my work. "if you don't press
the button someone, somewhere, will die". Is this too much to confront
the auidence with? Can I shock you into acting perhaps? Scare you into
a decision? If your own life was on the line, how would you act?
Hollywood is fixated on portraying the horrors that people can commit
in dire situations, though these are often pale in comparison to the
horrors that happen in everyday reality. These movies/documentaries
make the Everyman fearful of not himself, like they should be, they
instead become fearful of the other, their neighbour. The attrocities
of our capabilities are rarely a self realisation, more a adding
caution and apprehension to any and everyone around them. We should
not mistrust others but mistrust ourselves. When it comes down to it,
our life or theirs, which would you choose? What if the pressure was
on? Live or die, in the rush, the chaos, do you really think you'll be
making the morally right decision? The socially accepted choice? Kill
or be killed, instinctually, there is not much choice, our
complexities, our so called 'power' and higher evolutionally minds
fixated on that tiny glimmer of 'what if' 'maybe' 'prrhaps'.
Hesitation, it is what our aparent higher placement inthe food chain
has given us. To stare into the tigers eyes, there will be no
hesitation in his choice, he knows you are deadly, he feels the need
to feed, it is in his design and his character, to rip you to shreds
at the first oppurtunity. You, well you will be lost in thought and
moral questions "this tiger could be endangered" the hilarity of the
thought. Our nature, is to run, to save ourselves, the surivial of
'me'. Staring into the oncoming bloody death indeed we will be, we
will be caught up in how to escape this situation, rather than
focusing on the task at hand, to remove the threat, not run from it.
The fear of living is almost as great as the fear of dying. In our
perplexitions of both, we never know for certain if we are indeed
alive, or dead. Is this, just another, choice? Do we, can we, decide
to live? We can certainly choose to die, but do we have any choice in
the matter of living? Should we? Is this existence something we should
even question? Many would say no, many would say to live because you
have life, the gift of being. Though a gift implies some sort of
choice doesn't it? To choose to accept or not? You can even take the
nicely packaged box home, your choice to open it or not also isn't it?
Can simply put it at the back of the cupbaord and forget about it and
leave it to collect dust. Many would question this, many would hate
you for it, to deny life when you have been graciously given the
'gift' of it. Choice, seperates each and everyone one of us, and
unites us universally. To be or not to be? Well that's all well and
good, but how about the choice behind even asking that question?

The Intention
A button, a big red button. What would you do if there was just a big
red button in front of you? The temptation of a button, so big and sored is a tough thing to resist. The ease and the simple gratification
of pushing it because you can, satisfying your curiousity. A button is
made to be pressed is it not? What is a button that goes on without
being pressed? Is it a button then? A button gives a sense of purpose
and a process of something happening, the allure of pushing it is on
one part to find out it's purpose and intention. What then if I
present you with a button that when pressed, takes a life. Would you
push that button? You cannot deny that you are indeed curious,
tempted, seduced by it. What if, perhaps, maybe, all things we rather
make certaintys. Dare you push a button that could potentially take
anothers life? The logic you hold tries to convince you it's
preposterous, though the insecure and questioning nature of your being
steals this certainty from you. You could be a murderer at the push of
a button, maybe, do you have the audicity to find out? Someone may die
from your tiny, small, insignificant action, is their life worth your
satisfied curiousity? Perhaps. Your essentially being given a 'kill
and get away with it' button, what if tou don't get away with though?
Here lies a true moral test. You need not part with anything of your
own or sacrifice anything on your own part, it is simple, easy and
almost effortless. What do you believe? Will a small press of a button
destroy a life? A gentle push kill someone? A innocent button murder
for you? Who is indeed the wicked here? The button is just a button,
your pressing it for your own expectations of what that button should
do, a demand from the button to deliver and showcase it's purpose in
being a button.
Is taking another human beings life this easy? Have you considered
the implications? The guilt? The responsibilty? The morality of the
situation? If indeed there is.
Who is held accountable here? The button? Surely you will argue it is
the button who is the killer as your simply acting out the buttons
purpose, by pushing it. Gratifying and justifying it's existence as a
button. But the button is just a button, a middle man if you will, you
are the pusher of the button, beginning the chain of events that could
culminate in the ending of a life. It starts with you. You can go on
tour everyday life with no troubles or woes in simply living, but your
every action and decision can be the accomplice to the destruction of
another, cause and effect. In my buttons means it is no more
responsible than your smallest of actions that can build the potential
of effect that ends in someones demise.
This brings about the question of 'intention'. Is this what seperates
us from those we determine to be 'criminals'? Though does this mean we
can all be guilty of manslaughter? My box, nor my button, not even
myself, have the intention to harm, to hurt, to kill, to murder. I'm
simply stating a fact. Someone will die, somewhere. That's no fault of
mine, the box, or the button, not even yourself. Unless you choose to
be. You are the guidance of your morality, the captain of your
responsibilty, the commander of your guilt, the pilot if your intention.
Are you guilty? Are you responsible? Are you intending harm? Are you
morally just? Your choice, I'm afraid.

The Button
Title of button work: "it's easier than it looks" Perhaps?
I have now given you it in such ease all it takes is just the push a
button. A large red button. Who can resist the allure of the seducing
crimson of soft lipstick, sweet cherrie, lush velvet and bloody
murder. I'm not even having you morally put a price on the death of
another. What lies before you is simply, the means. Te means to cause
harm, pain and suffering, if you believe so. You wish to feel the
primeaval euphoria of taking a life? Push the button, see how it makes you feel.
The purity of the button makes it far more alluring than hat of parting
with your money to have someone die. I'm not asking anything of you,
all you have before you is choice. Push the button or don't, your
choice I'm afraid.

The Statement
We are all so obsessed with the value of our lives, the cost of our being, the worth of our souls, body and minds. But what value do we put on death? How much is another persons life worth to us? What moral and ethical dilemma do we reach In holding ourselves accountable for the passing of another? Someone we perhaps don't even know or have any connection to? What do you believe will happen when you donate to the box? I'm not making you a killer, I'm not turning you into a murderer, you are. If you choose to. This work assaults your very morality, what it means to be human, to be accountable and responsible for the potential death of someone, somewhere. Are you the wicked or is the box the wrong doer?what is considered right and wrong here? What if you saw someone else donate to the box? What judgement would you pass on them? Do you believe they are evil? Tempting fate, changing destiny? What are the very limits to your morality? What is the value of death?

The Right or The Wrong?
"To die is to know that your alive" - HIM.
What is this fear that my work presents to you? The implications of what my box may or may not be able to do rings certain bells within your mind about what is 'wrong' about it. Is this the conscience? What is it about this so called little voice in the back of our heads that holds so much over our characters? Over our actions and considerations. The power it holds over us indeed confining, is it even right to listen to it? What if this is simply the sophistication of our species evolution to provide us with a survival voice within? What if the animalistic and hunter aspect of our heritage had a voice? "Go on, just take it", "Strike now and they'll not even be able to fight back", maybe we still hold this within us but others are more in contact with us than ourselves, we call them insane perhaps, lock them up for 'crimes'. The Angel and Devil on our shoulders, of course it isn't that simple, it never is. With our humanity we complicated even the simplistic. We strive for more than we have or there is. The greed of our species knows no bounds. We are compelled to know more, to have more, for there to BE more. Are we ever, truly, happy?
"The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." -
Dante Alighieri

The Responsibility.
In reference to my work 'The Value Of Death' (the donation box), I seem to stumbled across a aspect of the human psyche which i believe may separate certain social 'classes' and belief. There is a evident choice in whether to feel responsible in the death of another in placing a donation in the box. It's not so much about what you believe a death/life is worth in what donation you choose to give. No, it also has the consciousness attached to it. From whatever it may you place within my box, it is your own morality and choosing to whether to feel responsible for another's death. This can happen to such individuals to such a degree they fear the prospect, the very notion of being a component in another human being's death. Tempting fate, changing destiny, many would believe these to be such things that human beings have no right to meddle within or change. Though I ask when (if) all we have true responsibility over is in fact ourselves, our souls, mind and body, our existence, how can we ever feel accountable for the loss of any life around us? No matter the distance or circumstance.
Where does the line stop/begin or begin to blur on where taking life 'too far' materialize? In disregard for life and its rarity do we create a offensive to all that 'is'? Religions tell us we should be thankful and praise worthy of the lives we are 'given'. Even science tells us that our very existence is such a 'miracle', the exact conditions of our planet, the thousands of sperm, the lineage of our species and here we are. Many question though, If it is indeed possible, how/why is is so special? Do we have any justification in putting a price on life? We often become so obsessed with the mysterious and enigmatic 'death' of the other and thyself, some could say we never truly 'live'. The meaning and reason behind living is a quintessential question(s) in the mind of the human. We are so compelled by our very being that it is said we don't use the opportunity to the full potential. If we had any logic it would seem we would not question this 'life', we would 'live' it, wouldn't we? The eternal mystery of what is and what is not is the plague of the human psyche, our nature, our world, our structure, our laws, our ways, our workings, nothing goes without questioning, we are the forever question marks of the universe apparently. Searching for the answer to ourselves, within the stars, within the world, within our own biology, within our own minds. We are compelled to know, compelled to understand, Not much is a simple 'given' anymore. From our very beginnings we set out hunting, searching, gathering, looking for more, processing everything we encounter.
The way we work is that we are the very centre of the universe in our view. The notion that we are not is the assault upon the self worth and the confidence of the individual. To even be confronted with the idea that we simply do not matter is a fear we rare express because of its deep and fatal blow it bestows upon us. We live in a world of escapes and alternatives, for those of us who cannot accept and cannot comprehend the possibility of the seemingly nothingness of reality, we divulge into the many consumeristic options available to us. The many no longer face their fears instead they barricade themselves within their boxes with fancy gadgets and materialistic comforts designed to give them a sense of worth in world so diluted its become the impossible to find a light to shine in the mere darkness of being.

The Other Box
"Any intervention in a complex system may or may not have the intended result, but will inevitably create unanticipated and often undesirable outcomes"
The basis of the law of unintended consequences.
There is no denying that my work has connections and links to the recent Film The Box(2009), starring James Marsden, Cameron Diaz & Frank Langella. Diaz and Marsden star as a couple who receive a box from a mysterious man(Langella) who offers them one million dollars if they press the button sealed within the dome on top of the box. Of which he says; "I have an offer to make. If you push the button, two things will happen. First, someone, somewhere in the world, whom you don't know, will die. Second, you will receive a payment of one million dollars. You have 24 hours."
This Quote is heavy influence upon my own quote I use throughout my art.
The construct and the look of the box in question is of keen interest to me.

The Guise Of Freedom Takes On Many Forms
Morality;
"late 14c., "moral qualities," from O.Fr. moralité, from L.L. moralitatem (nom. moralitas) "manner, character," from L. moralis (see moral (adj.)). Meaning "goodness" is attested from 1590s."
"descriptively to refer to a code of conduct put forward by a society or,
some other group, such as a religion, or
accepted by an individual for her own behavior or
normatively to refer to a code of conduct that, given specified conditions, would be put forward by all rational persons."
–noun,plural-ties
1.
conformity to the rules of right conduct; moral or virtuous conduct.
2.
moral quality or character.
3.
virtue in sexual matters; chastity.
4.
a doctrine or system of morals.
5.
moral instruction; a moral lesson, precept, discourse, or utterance.
Morality, if keeps us from screaming and loosing our minds in the perils of choice in everyday living. Conformist views shape the politics of life of the everyman. We are shaped by rules that are not our own. Moral choices are made for us in our so called democratic centres for 'leaders' of our country. Who has any more right than anyone else to manage a sovergin state? True democracy would give the chance to the Everyman to do all they can. We instead live in a class system where particular morailty choices are expected of us. We upset the requirement of a selfish goverment and we are apprehended by members of the law that are no more morally right than our very selfs. Whose more right in each of our lives than we ourselves? Whose 'law' is anymore absolute than of our own?

The Box.
Death is not what we make it, it is what we are. The very spark of life i the lighting of the fuse on our existence. What we cannot escape is our overwhelming curiosity with our own demise. What COULD be. It's rare we put a value on life, we are more focused on the value of death.
My artwork atm is very much all about how each and every one of us creates a moral code we chose to live by. But in todays world it is affected by so many different things. Todays world morality is questioned itself rather than what it brings about. My work is exploring the extremity of such morality. Looking at death, in particular murder really.
It's followed on from a topic of work of my last given project at uni where i explored the serial killer and the attitudes towards someone's who takes life, how we DEAL with them, our attempts are trying to understand something we believe to be so wrong.

The current piece of work is a small donation box on a plinth, which has a sign stating, "IF YOU PLACE A DONATION IN THIS BOX, SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, WILL DIE."
also all around my studio and building i work in i've put similar signs saying if you open this door someone, somewhere, will die. even signs saying, if you read this someone, somewhere, will die.
I'm testing your very morality. I'm confronting your very code's of honor and living. Want to really highlight, that even if you do open this door or put money in this box, or read this sign, someone may indeed, die. But that is not something you cannot be accounted for. or at least thats what we believe. If someone does put money in the box, what does that say about them, would they do it infront of people, would they only do it if they were alone with the box, would they imagine someone they did infact wish to die? who knows. these are questions i'm making you ask yourself. not giving you answers or a conclusion. i'm wanting you to really look, really review, what it is to be able to have, to be able to judge and critique what it is to be human, what morality gives us, what we do with it. the responsibility we bestow upon ourselves.
I'm not calling you a murderer if you do infact do what the sign says, i'm not making you one neither. You are. If you truely believe that someone will die by your hand if you place money in the box, that is your own choice and morality speaking for you. your very values telling you that its wrong, or right.
I'm not making you do anything, the problem you have then, is the problem of choice.

The Problem is Choice.
Morality. It defines the very things we come to term as good or bad. But who are we to determine those? what right do ourselves have to speak about others actions when each and every one of us holds a unique and individual code of honor and justice. In todays world morality is seemingly bound by culture and law. Only if we let it? The thought of chaos and lawlessness is indeed a scary notion for the many. Though is it not after we have lost everything, that we are truly free? Is what we are all really scared of, is indeed our very freedom? do we know what we would do with it, how it would feel, what it actually means? Would we even choose freedom?
Judgement, we all are bestowed with the ability to 'judge' but at what right? Just because we CAN, doesn't mean we should, does it?

The Value Of Death?
Is it life we hold so dear or is it the destruction of said life we hold more close to our own hearts? however monstrous and wrong we may view it, is it not our deaths that ultimately make us who we are? our depart from this world is a ending to thy story which completes the tiny chapter of existence in a whole. We are but atoms in the spanse of history and the universe, in fact much less. Thy life is a blink of the eye in the view of the reality we inhabit, this does not mean that we hold no significant value however, many of us are so concerned with our legacy and our lineage that we forget to live the very lives that we are gifted with.

The Value Of Death
What is it that death compels within us that we cannot deny it throughout our everyday life? We don't risk life and limb to simply BE in existence. Or do we? Statistics will tell us that sitting in our own home is a dangerous place to be that could take our lives. Placement of our lives seemingly depends on where we live them. To most a life spent indoors is a servitude of punishment, to others the prospect of life on the outside is a fear best not explored.
So in how we all seek meaning and value to our 'lives' are we placing a price upon our own heads or are we making a estimate for how much our death is worth? Does thy existence in 'reality' outweigh its exit from it? Da Vinci is quoted to have said, “While I thought that I was learning how to live, I have been learning how to die.” Is this true for every life?
I want to question the value you put on death. Ultimately we choose to ignore out own death, so when we face with the prospect of it we choose to think of the 'other' whoever that 'other' may be, it is a escape from the reality of our own selfless death. If I was to make you choose between one person's death and the other's? what would waver your choice? Their importance to yourself? Their social standing? Their responsibilities as a individual? What makes one's life more important than the others? More importantly, what if you had no choice? Now that is a scary question is it not?

The Progress Of Death
'Death means a lot of money, honey. Death can make you look like a star.'
What is the value of death? what is this fear we bestow upon it? need it be a means to a end. need it be a full stop on the status of life? who knows. i do not. for i am alive. for all extensive purposes. Is death thy neighbour that we do not wish to be neighborly with? My Project has taken a turn in making more questions than answers. Though those questions reveal much more about the issues I wish to raise and confront. If Death is indeed the monster we make of it, is it truly out for us on a vendetta to correct the mistake that is life?
What is this phantom life nought but a journey to a certain predetermined door. We fear death no question about it, but do we fear life also. in our crippling fear of the unknown of destruction of life do we loose value and regard on what it is to live, to be alive? There is a creeping thought into every waking moment, perhaps in the centre of a survival instincts, that at any time, any where or place this could be our death. There used to be talk and belief in a 'Good' Death, is this possible anymore, was it possible in the first place. Our Eternally curious thoughts cannot perceive the very idea of our own death. At best we can view the deaths of those around us. Take a sat back and relaxed look at the withering of the rarity of the universe. We cannot view our own death, once it is it will be all there is.
Is Deaths Illusion the very idea of life?
“A live human body and a deceased human body have the same number of particles. Structurally there's no difference.“ - Jon Osterman
My work’s aims to open your mind and considerations to what value ‘life’ has. Is it simply an overrated phenomenon?
“Can I Help You?” explores the mindset of those who kill, who murder, who are so detached from reality and society they choose to take another’s life. A key research aspect was of the Zodiac Killings, by someone who has eluded the law since he murdered 5 people in the late 1960’s, the same time set from the initial starting point of this project of Michelangelo Antonioni’s film Zabriskie Point(1970) which also took place within California like the movie.
This piece takes a very laid back and casual approach to the issues it tackles. Much like infamous serial killers in their motives and considerations towards life. Also there is a undeniable black comedy feel to the work; you don’t know if you should laugh or not. I leave that choice unto you. What I do wish for you to think about though is the fact that anyone of us, your partner, your child, your neighbour, your postman, even you yourself, could be a killer. It is a fact that we cannot deny about our nature, we all have the capacity to kill.
This is the statement which was partnered with my exhibition piece.
I feel this outcome for this exhibition was more of a experimental stage rather than a means to an end. I aim to continue on this project throughout my next one, as there is so much potential in the concepts of my ideas. I would like to maybe look at some site specific work perhaps, for example "how to drown someone" manual in a public swimming pool. Also extending the ideal of the manuals, for instance setting a faux company up which gives advice on how best to murder/kill someone. There is also the prospect of bringing the idea into new mediums, possibly even videos of TV adverts on how to kill someone successfully, or billboards, etc. Before I take this project further I'm hoping to do much more reading and concept proofing my idea with books into the psyche of serial killers, how the media represents them and the attitude the general public has towards them. Another interest i would like to explore is the "value" of life, how it is regarded and what worth we give/imply of it. This could include looking certain cultures and religions outlook on death.

You can kill anyone you like, you can murder whoever you feel you wish to, but would you?
In a Recent tutorial with my tutor Bob. I have decided that with serial killers it is more often the build up and excitment that gets them off as most often or not many claim they dont remember the actual act of killing, they remember the stalking of the victim, the preperation of the killing. Some are so methodical and so organised they prepare months even years in advance. They are often intelligent and quite sociable. They type that their friends and neighbours describe something along the lines of "wouldnt hurt a fly". A fact many people cant seem to accept or escape is the pure fact that anyone can be a killer, your brother, your mother, your lover, your nieghbour, your doctor, your dentist, your workmate, your bartender, anyone of them has the capacity to be a killer, even you, reading this, you yourself have the audacity and the coldness to be a murderer. You have the abilty to take a life. Any life.
The alure and the fame glittered around killing is too much for some, some kill to simple be noticed, to be in the lime light, some kill to be seen. The notion of everyone having their "15 minutes of fame". Some will do all they can for even one minute.
Many I beleive would actually plan out a murder, organise a killing to the point they have a target, a weapon pikced out, a specfic attire to wear and time frame to go thruogh with the act. This apparent affulation is where the excitement and allure of a killer is?

There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane
At this point in my journey of making art based on Zabriskie point i became downtrodden in the vastness of my ideas and directions i could take, not so much a fork in the road but a whole cutlery draw to pick from. With this apparent status of being "stuck", took the oppurtunity to talk to my tutor and going thorugh my thoughts, ideas and options. From this discussion i was able to pin down the idea of a sort of... self help book, Example the "For Dummies" series. Only mine would have a title a bit like, "How To Be A Serial Killer". Which admittley got me a few funny looks of some peers. The style i would do the work would be of like the inflight safety cards where the people in them are very blank faced, basic colours, simple lines. Though instead of showing how to be safe during flight mine would be giving you a step by step on how to kill people in various ways.
Below the airline illustraion is my intrepretation on how i could manipulate and alter the design to my own needs and requirement, the style and look of it is very deadpan black comedy.
Much like a part of the Movie FIGHT CLUB where they subsititute the regular airline safety cards with a more accurate and realistic design, below is the prop used for the scene in the film.

Detachment = Attachment
In looking at the Zodiac killer i became very interested in his handwritten letters to the press. He was detached enough from society and maybe reality that he murdered others and bragged about it even saying in one letter the people he kills will serve him in the afterlife, whether this is his true belief or not we do not know. Was he desperate to be attached to society/someone he went to the extreme to get attention and respect? The letters were extensively scrutinized by handwriting specialists and compared against a wide variety of suspects to determine the identity of the killer. It is said the killer used his left hand to write the letters, which isn't the hand he usually uses, hence the shaky scribble of the letters. From this i decided to explore this writing, getting others to write using their opposite hand from the usual practice, i did this myself quite a bit and i found it quite therapeutic and even with the less developed hand it is readable. In asking others to use their opposite hand to write with i found they took their time and tried their hardest to make it egilable. They seemingly use their language as a representation of theirselves. The writing style i used however with my otherhand was ot jsut let go and let it flow, it often became very scratch like and had a creepy otherworldy feel to it. It's style enough to distance the writer from the reader, the reader feeling apprehnsion and caution.
Zodiac
A key serial killer i decided to look at was the Zodiac Killer of the 1960's, the same period set for the Movie Zabriskie Point and also in California like the movie. He Officially claimed 5 victims in total, though takes responsibility for many more. A key thing about the killer is that he has never been identified and the case is still open today. He is infamous for his letters he sent to the press about his killings, motives & victims. With these taunting letters he also included various ciphers some of which are still to be solved.

He killed most of his victims via shooting though some were stabbed to death. He himself appointed his name "ZODIAC". His victims were most often young couples. This is an artist representation (Robert Graysmith) of one of the victims boyfriends who survived a encounter with the killer.

Initial Themes/Concepts
Themes i derived from the viewing of the film were of; Human development, human detachment, responsibility and sacrifice. my strongest theme being that of human detachment. In the film i find that there is a few key moments and feelings of great detachment from others. One obviously being that of the riots and of Daria's attitude to aspects of her life after meeting Mark. Mark himself is very detached from others in general, he doesn't really console and trust in others too much. His language towards Daria is very distant. Mark express' apparent disappointment in the fact he didn't murder the officer the police believe he shot. Showing his lack of respect towards life and how he is willing to take another's life to make a stand and a statement.
Ideas i developed from this theme was to perhaps to take photo's of people in transit, more so public transport commuters and their blatant detachment from every person around them. No one else cares where you going why your there or who you are. they see it as a in between and are just keeping to themselves in order to get to where they need to be. So i thought photographs of these people who are crammed into cramped seats on public transport and even sit across from one another have no attachment to the person they are sat with or near. If they are sat next to someone they will do so in a way so they don't actually touch the other person, not even risking a attachment of touch. I do a Public commute to get to uni everyday which consists of getting a bus then a train in order to make it so my studio and the evidence is huge that people don't want to be attached to people they are in such close proximity to and obvious links to via the use of public transport. From this idea i progressed onto the notion of taking pictures of the people we are so detached from we almost take for granted. The mailman/woman, milkman/woman, shop assistants, garbage men. Today these detachments are very clear as with the bin-men and royal mail on strike we find our lives/world a bit harder and more frustrating. Unfortunately I didn't get chance to take these photographs and explore them but i do wish to refer back to my initial ideas in a project of their own perhaps.
My ideas were coming too fast and too varied so i honied it down with some help from my tutor to the detachment of people in the extreme's, these extreme's being that of the detachment of criminals. How far from society's norms and etiquette these people can become. Most often or not they are out to prove something or to make a stand against something but there is those certain individuals that even our vast knowledge of the world cannot fathom. In the most extreme of the criminal i chose to look at the Serial Killer. There are those Serial killers who cannot be explained or their actions remotely rationalized. Despite the huge detachment of these certain individuals from public and society's we do our best to try and "understand". We have established a "criminology" the masses attempt to make what they cannot comprehend. We make small individual societies for them "prisons" in our attempt to "rehabilitate" them as we believe they are "wrong".
